In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria, and he carried the Israelites away to Assyria and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?

[3] Samaria shall bear her guilt, because she has rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword; their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.

But the earth will be desolate because of its inhabitants, for the fruit of their deeds.

And Jair the son of Manasseh went and captured their villages, and called them Havvoth-jair.[1]
