Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink. Instead I hope to come to you and talk face to face, so that our joy may be complete.

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

"I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.

I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while.

As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy.

At the same time, prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping that through your prayers I will be graciously given to you.

I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.

You should know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom I shall see you if he comes soon.

And we are writing these things so that our[1] joy may be complete.

So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.
