But the LORD said to David my father, 'Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

"Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me.

Everyone who could make a contribution of silver or bronze brought it as the LORD's contribution. And every one who possessed acacia wood of any use in the work brought it.

All the men and women, the people of Israel, whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work that the LORD had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the LORD.

Take from among you a contribution to the LORD. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the LORD's contribution: gold, silver, and bronze;

What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and a poor man is better than a liar.

So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.

And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, 'Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.'

"One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have.

I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness

And not only that, but he has been appointed by the churches to travel with us as we carry out this act of grace that is being ministered by us, for the glory of the Lord himself and to show our good will.

Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:
