And when she looked, there was the king standing by the pillar, according to the custom, and the captains and the trumpeters beside the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets. And Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, "Treason! Treason!"

And the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people joined in the covenant.

And there I have set the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with the people of Israel."

Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits[1] long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had set it in the court, and he stood on it. Then he knelt on his knees in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven,

"If you prepare your heart, you will stretch out your hands toward him.

Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!

I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah

Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary.[1]

So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.

Nobles shall come from Egypt; Cush shall hasten to stretch out her hands to God.

So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh and stretched out his hands to the LORD, and the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured upon the earth.

Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.

I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;
