He set to work resolutely and built up all the wall that was broken down and raised towers upon it,[1] and outside it he built another wall, and he strengthened the Millo in the city of David. He also made weapons and shields in abundance.

A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.

When Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled, going out of the city at night by way of the king's garden through the gate between the two walls; and they went toward the Arabah.

They do not jostle one another; each marches in his path; they burst through the weapons and are not halted.

And all the leaders of Shechem came together, and all Beth-millo, and they went and made Abimelech king, by the oak of the pillar at Shechem.
