He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the Ammonites gave him that year 100 talents[1] of silver, and 10,000 cors[2] of wheat and 10,000 of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and the third years.

So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.

And when you approach the territory of the people of Ammon, do not harass them or contend with them, for I will not give you any of the land of the people of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the sons of Lot for a possession.'

Then Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged Jabesh-gilead, and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a treaty with us, and we will serve you."
