Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

And the time that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years. And he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.

After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.

Now the acts of Rehoboam, from first to last, are they not written in the chronicles of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer?[2] There were continual wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.

Abijah went out to battle, having an army of valiant men of war, 400,000 chosen men. And Jeroboam drew up his line of battle against him with 800,000 chosen mighty warriors.

Zela, Haeleph, Jebus[3] (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah[4] and Kiriath-jearim[5] -- fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the people of Benjamin according to its clans.

So they passed on and went their way. And the sun went down on them near Gibeah, which belongs to Benjamin,

And behold, an old man was coming from his work in the field at evening. The man was from the hill country of Ephraim, and he was sojourning in Gibeah. The men of the place were Benjaminites.

Saul also went to his home at Gibeah, and with him went men of valor whose hearts God had touched.
