So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
Finally, then, brothers,[1] we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to live[2] and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.
We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers,[1] as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.[4]
