Thus the sin of the young men was very great in the sight of the LORD, for the men treated the offering of the LORD with contempt.

He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. Therefore it is said, "Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD."

Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the LORD.

Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight, and the earth was filled with violence.

And he burned his son as an offering[1] and used fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.

Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.

For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen, because their speech and their deeds are against the LORD, defying his glorious presence.[4]

And this second thing you do. You cover the LORD's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand.

"Woe to the world for temptations to sin![2] For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!

And if the man said to him, "Let them burn the fat first, and then take as much as you wish," he would say, "No, you must give it now, and if not, I will take it by force."

And I declare to him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, because his sons were blaspheming God,[1] and he did not restrain them.
