And that first strike, which Jonathan and his armor-bearer made, killed about twenty men within as it were half a furrow's length in an acre[3] of land.
Then he called quickly to the young man his armor-bearer and said to him, "Draw your sword and kill me, lest they say of me, 'A woman killed him.' " And his young man thrust him through, and he died.
Then Jonathan climbed up on his hands and feet, and his armor-bearer after him. And they fell before Jonathan, and his armor-bearer killed them after him.
And there was a panic in the camp, in the field, and among all the people. The garrison and even the raiders trembled, the earth quaked, and it became a very great panic.
Behold, even now he has hidden himself in one of the pits or in some other place. And as soon as some of the people fall[3] at the first attack, whoever hears it will say, 'There has been a slaughter among the people who follow Absalom.'
