Therefore, preparing your minds for action,[1] and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

"Stay dressed for action[6] and keep your lamps burning,

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.

but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you;

so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,

but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.[3]

As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.

"Dress for action[1] like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.

and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels

But you, dress yourself for work;[3] arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them.

Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah, and he gathered up his garment and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD's Passover.

Dress for action[1] like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.

He said to Gehazi, "Tie up your garment and take my staff in your hand and go. If you meet anyone, do not greet him, and if anyone greets you, do not reply. And lay my staff on the face of the child."

Will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare supper for me, and dress properly,[4] and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink'?

For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.

When Christ who is your[1] life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully,

By Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.

and to them he said, 'You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.'
