And Solomon said, "You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant David my father, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you. And you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne this day.

But he said to me, 'The LORD, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with you and prosper your way. You shall take a wife for my son from my clan and from my father's house.

"The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me.

And the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in his sight.

"Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says the LORD: Would you build me a house to dwell in?

because David did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

that the LORD may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, 'If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack[1] a man on the throne of Israel.'

And if you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days."

And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my rules,

"Now, O LORD, please remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

And Solomon said to God, "You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, and have made me king in his place.

Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.

Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word.

I will sing to the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me.

He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart;

Not so with my servant Moses. He is faithful in all my house.

You will be enriched in every way for all your generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready as a willing gift, not as an exaction.[2]
