Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.

And it shall be said, "Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people's way."

"Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. Should I indeed let myself be consulted by them?

Because they ministered to them before their idols and became a stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I have sworn concerning them, declares the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their punishment.

You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God: I am the LORD.

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.[4]

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

But if someone says to you, "This has been offered in sacrifice," then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience --

I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else's conscience?

Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God,

For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating[3] in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged,[4] if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols?

Thus, sinning against your brothers[5] and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.

To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.

To my shame, I must say, we were too weak for that! But whatever anyone else dares to boast of -- I am speaking as a fool -- I also dare to boast of that.

Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to fall, and I am not indignant?

We put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[1] of the world, and not according to Christ.

Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants[4] of God.

They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves[6] of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality.
