Every man is stupid and without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, for his images are false, and there is no breath in them.

Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

"Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood.

And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all of Asia this Paul has persuaded and turned away a great many people, saying that gods made with hands are not gods.

Now concerning[1] food offered to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." This "knowledge" puffs up, but love builds up.

For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating[3] in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged,[4] if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols?

And so by your knowledge this weak person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died.

Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods.

one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

'O Lord GOD, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours?

" 'See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.

To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him.

know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.[1]

To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.[4] Amen.

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man[1] Christ Jesus,

to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
