Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.

you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.[1]

But I call God to witness against me -- it was to spare you that I refrained from coming again to Corinth.

I warned those who sinned before and all the others, and I warn them now while absent, as I did when present on my second visit, that if I come again I will not spare them --

For I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.

And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all.

Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.

Brothers,[1] if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

But we were gentle[3] among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
