There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.

He leads priests away stripped and overthrows the mighty.

The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.

As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.

Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world[3] are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.

God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,

To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,

Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.

And I, when I came to you, brothers,[1] did not come proclaiming to you the testimony[2] of God with lofty speech or wisdom.

And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.[3]

None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But I, brothers,[1] could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.

For our boast is this: the testimony of our conscience that we behaved in the world with simplicity[3] and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.

Finally, brothers,[1] rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another,[2] agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing.

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience --

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.

But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,

This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

For we all stumble in many ways, and if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
