I appeal to you, brothers,[1] by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity![1]

I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[1] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[2]

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.[8] Never be conceited.

I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf,

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.

For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers.

For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part,[3]

that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.

for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?

I urge you, then, be imitators of me.

I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ -- I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away! --

Finally, brothers,[1] rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another,[2] agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. Your restoration is what we pray for.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

Brothers,[3] I entreat you, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong.

Only let your manner of life be worthy[7] of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,

Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,[1]

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

And they came to the people of Reuben, the people of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and they said to them,

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
