The sower went forth to sow his seed,—and, as he sowed, some, indeed, fell beside the pathway, and was trodden down; and, the birds of heaven, devoured it.
And these are they beside the pathway where the word is sown,—and, as soon as they hear, straightway, cometh Satan, and snatcheth away the word which hath been sown into them;
Ye, are the salt of the earth; but, if the salt become tasteless, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good, for nothing, any more, save, being cast out, to be trampled on by men.
And, seeing that a great multitude were coming together, and they who from every city were journeying forth unto him, he spake through means of a parable:—
