But Jonah, went forth, out of the city, and abode on the east side of the city; and made for himself there, a hut, and sat under it, in the shade, until he should see what would become of the city.

And it came to pass, when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went forth, and stood at the entrance of the cave,—and lo! unto him, a voice; and it said—What doest thou here, Elijah?

And he entered, there, into a cave, and lodged there,—and lo! the word of Yahweh came unto him, and said to him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

Because of his iniquitous gain, was I wroth—and smote him Hiding myself that I might be wroth,—But he went on turning aside in the way of his own heart.

Then were the mariners, afraid, and made outcry every man unto his own god, and they hurled the wares which were in the ship, into the sea, to lighten it of them,—but, Jonah, had gone down into the hinder parts of the vessel, and had lain down, and fallen into a sound sleep.

Therefore I say—I will not mention him Neither will I speak any more in his name, But then it becometh in my heart as a fire that burneth, Shut up in my bones,—And I am weary of restraint and cannot refrain.

Then said Yahweh, Art thou rightly angry?

Now Yahweh God appointed a gourd, and caused it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to deliver him from his vexation,—and Jonah rejoiced over the gourd, with great rejoicing.
