So, then, my beloved—even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but, now, much more, in my absence, with fear and trembling, your own salvation, be working out;
Be taking heed, lest there shall be anyone leading, you, off as a spoil, through means of their philosophy, and an empty deceit,—according to the instruction of men, according to the first principles of the world,—and not according to Christ:
Hearken! my brethren beloved:—Hath not, God, chosen the destitute in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Or know ye not that, wrong-doers, shall not inherit, God’s kingdom? Be not deceiving yourselves:—neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites,
And, in these days, Peter, standing up in the midst of the brethren, said,—and there was a multitude of names, of one accord, about a hundred and twenty,—
Be not speaking one against another, brethren! He that speaketh against a brother, or judgeth his brother, speaketh against law, and judgeth law; Now, if, upon law, thou art passing judgment, thou art not a doer of law, but a judge!
But, before all things, my brethren, do not swear,—either by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your Yea be yea, and your Nay nay,—lest, under judgment, ye fall.
