And, a sign, he received namely of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while yet uncircumcised; to the end he might be father of all that believe during uncircumcision, to the end the same righteousness might be reckoned unto them,—
And he gave unto him a covenant of circumcision; and, thus, he begat Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day, and Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob, the twelve patriarchs.
And David sent messengers unto Ish-bosheth son of Saul, saying,—Give up my wife, Michal, whom I espoused to myself, for a hundred foreskins of Philistines.
And when there may sojourn with thee a sojourner who may wish to keep a passover to Yahweh, there must be circumcised to him every male and then, may he draw near to keep it, so shall he be as a native of the land,—but no uncircumcised male, shall eat thereof.
So Zipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it down at his feet,—and said—Surely, a bridegroom by rites of blood, art thou to me!
And God said, This, is the sign of the covenant which I am granting betwixt me and you, and every living soul that is with you,—to age-abiding generations:—
