But the famine, was severe in the land.

confirming the souls of the disciples, beseeching them to abide in the faith, and declaring that, through many tribulations, must we enter into the kingdom of God.

And there came a famine upon all Egypt and Canaan, and great tribulation, and our fathers could not find pasture.

All the earth also, came in to Egypt to buy corn, unto Joseph,—because the famine had laid fast hold on an the earth.

Now, the famine, was over all the face of the land,—so Joseph opened all places wherein it was and sold corn to the Egyptians, and the famine laid fast hold of the land of Egypt.
