And Joab delivered up the sum of the number of the people, unto the king,—and there were found to be, in Israel, eight hundred thousand men of valour, drawing the sword,—and, the men of Judah, five hundred thousand men.
And the chiefs of all the people—all the tribes of Israel—presented themselves in the convocation of the people of God,—four hundred thousand footmen, that drew the sword.
So they said unto the messengers who had come—Thus, shall ye surely say to the men of Jabesh-gilead, To-morrow, shall ye have deliverance, about the time the son is hot. And, when the messengers came and told the men of Jabesh, they rejoiced.
