And now I am become their song, Yea, I am a byword unto them.
I am as one that is a laughing-stock to his neighbour, A man that called upon God, and he answered him: The just, the perfect man is a laughing-stock.
He hath made me also a byword of the people; And I am become an open abhorring.
They are children of fools, yea, children of base men; They were scourged out of the land.
Thou makest us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.
O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am become a laughingstock all the day, every one mocketh me.
I am become a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
all our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.
Behold thou their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their song.
