On the left hand, when he doth work, but I cannot behold him: He hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him.
Yet these things thou didst hide in thine heart; I know that this is with thee:
But he knoweth the way that I take; When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; And backward, but I cannot perceive him:
When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man, alike:
How much less when thou sayest thou beholdest him not, The cause is before him, and thou waitest for him!
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: He passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
How long, O LORD, wilt thou hid thyself for ever? How long shall thy wrath burn like fire?
Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.
And I will wait for the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
