And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him,

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

And one of the lawyers answering saith unto him, Master, in saying this thou reproachest us also.

Woe unto you lawyers! for ye took away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?

But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected for themselves the counsel of God, being not baptized of him.

They therefore, being brought on their way by the church, passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, a learned man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the scriptures.

And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper country came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples:

And when it came to pass that we had accomplished the days, we departed and went on our journey; and they all, with wives and children, brought us on our way, till we were out of the city: and kneeling down on the beach, we prayed,

who also honoured us with many honours; and when we sailed, they put on board such things as we needed.

whensoever I go unto Spain (for I hope to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first in some measure I shall have been satisfied with your company)--

let no man therefore despise him. But set him forward on his journey in peace, that he may come unto me: for I expect him with the brethren.

But as touching Apollos the brother, I besought him much to come unto you with the brethren: and it was not at all his will to come now; but he will come when he shall have opportunity.
