And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is desperately sick: who can know it?

As for thy terribleness, the pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD;

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.

Did then that which is good become death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might be shewn to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good; --that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful.

but sin, finding occasion, wrought in me through the commandment all manner of coveting: for apart from the law sin is dead.

that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, which waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called Today; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin:

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.

If any man thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man's religion is vain.
