Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in distress: Mine eye wasteth away with grief, yea, my soul and my body.

He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, And all my members are as a shadow.

Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, Being bound in affliction and iron;

The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

I will pursue mine enemies, and overtake them: Neither will I turn again till they are consumed.

For our soul is bowed down to the dust: Our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

Mine eye wasteth away because of grief; It waxeth old because of all mine adversaries.

Which my lips have uttered, And my mouth hath spoken, when I was in distress.

For all the day long have I been plagued, And chastened every morning.

My flesh and my heart faileth: But God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.

Mine eye wasteth away by reason of affliction: I have called daily upon thee, O LORD, I have spread forth my hands unto thee.

Our eyes do yet fail in looking for our vain help; in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.

For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim;
