Lest strangers be filled with thy strength; And thy labours be in the house of an alien;

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, And thy years unto the cruel:

Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?

Till an arrow strike through his liver; As a bird hasteth to the snare, And knoweth not that it is for his life.

and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD Woe to the women that sew pillows upon all elbows, and make kerchiefs for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! will ye hunt the souls of my people, and save souls alive for yourselves?

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD

but when this thy son came, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.

And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
