He covereth his hands with the lightning; And giveth it a charge that it strike the mark.

He closeth in the face of his throne, And spreadeth his cloud upon it.

Yea, he ladeth the thick cloud with moisture; He spreadeth abroad the cloud of his lightning:

And it is turned round about by his guidance, That they may do whatsoever he commandeth them Upon the face of the habitable world.

Dost thou know how God layeth his charge upon them, And causeth the lightning of his cloud to shine?

Canst thou send forth lightnings, that they may go, And say unto thee, Here we are?

He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; He maketh lightnings for the rain; He bringeth forth the wind out of his treasuries.

Fire and hail, snow and vapour; Stormy wind, fulfilling his word:

He made darkness his hiding place, his pavilion round about him; Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

Then the channels of waters appeared, And the foundations of the world were laid bare, At thy rebuke, O LORD, At the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

And when neither sun nor stars shone upon us for many days, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was now taken away.
