And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when men arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

A sound of terrors is in his ears; In prosperity the spoiler shall come upon him:

Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, And shall chase him at his heels.

When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him, And shall rain it upon him while he is eating.

He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

That they are as stubble before the wind, And as chaff that the storm carrieth away?

Who were snatched away before their time, Whose foundation was poured out as a stream:

He is swift upon the face of the waters; Their portion is cursed in the earth: He turneth not by the way of the vineyards.

In a moment they die, even at midnight; The people are shaken and pass away, And the mighty are taken away without hand.

The cords of death compassed me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: All thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

Fill their faces with confusion; That they may seek thy name, O LORD.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

And it came to pass at midnight, that the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was slain.

For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, and the flood was round about me; all thy waves and thy billows passed over me.
