Ecclesiastes 2:16

For of the wise man, even as of the fool, there is no remembrance for ever; seeing that in the days to come all will have been already forgotten. And how doth the wise man die even as the fool!

And the king lamented for Abner, and said, Should Abner die as a fool dieth?

For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more.

For he seeth that wise men die, The fool and the brutish together perish, And leave their wealth to others.

Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

And withal I saw the wicked buried, and they came to the grave; and they that had done right went away from the holy place, and were forgotten in the city: this also is vanity.

Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Then they that feared the LORD spake one with another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him, for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh judgement;
