Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was no profit under the sun.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

O remember how short my time is: For what vanity hast thou created all the children of men!

And Moses saw all the work, and, behold, they had done it; as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.

I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.

And I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also was a striving after wind.

What profit hath man of all his labour wherein he laboureth under the sun?

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this also is vanity.

And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that he laboureth for the wind?

Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the peoples labour for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

But godliness with contentment is great gain:
