Yea, if a man live many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.

Before I go whence I shall not return, Even to the land of darkness and of the shadow of death;

A land of thick darkness, as darkness itself; A land of the shadow of death, without any order, And where the light is as darkness.

But man dieth, and wasteth away: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

So man lieth down and riseth not: Till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, Nor be roused out of their sleep.

He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand:

He shall be driven from light into darkness, And chased out of the world.

Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, Is like the beasts that perish.

Give a portion to seven, yea, even unto eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so will it happen even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also was vanity.

So I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun was grievous unto me: for all is vanity and a striving after wind.

And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.

For to the man that pleaseth him God giveth wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that pleaseth God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

There was no end of all the people, even of all them over whom he was: yet they that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and a striving after wind.

There is one that is alone, and he hath not a second; yea, he hath neither son nor brother; yet is there no end of all his labour, neither are his eyes satisfied with riches. For whom then, saith he, do I labour, and deprive my soul of good? This also is vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.

Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?

yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, and yet enjoy no good: do not all go to one place?

In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God hath even made the one side by side with the other, to the end that man should not find out any thing that shall be after him.

Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and prolong his days, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:

Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him in his labour all the days of his life which God hath given him under the sun.

Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God hath already accepted thy works.

Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains; and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains; a great people and a strong, there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.

Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you. Walk while ye have the light, that darkness overtake you not: and he that walketh in the darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

Oh that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end!

how that they said to you, In the last time there shall be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.
