Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's interdict; Hast thou not signed an interdict, that every man that shall make petition unto any god or man within thirty days, save unto thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.

And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, that a certain maid having a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying.

and when they had brought them unto the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns unto God, and the prisoners were listening to them;

And he called for lights, and sprang in, and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas,

And when they found them not, they dragged Jason and certain brethren before the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they laid hold on Paul, and dragged him out of the temple: and straightway the doors were shut.

But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

for I will shew him how many things he must suffer for my name's sake.

in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;

having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

but having suffered before, and been shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we waxed bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God in much conflict.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But ye have dishonoured the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgement-seats?
