Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD'S anointed?

And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head that belongeth to Judah? This day do I shew kindness unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, and yet thou chargest me this day with a fault concerning this woman.

And he did obeisance, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

Thou shalt not revile God, nor curse a ruler of thy people.

And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we bid fire to come down from heaven, and consume them?

And Paul said, I wist not, brethren, that he was high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of a ruler of thy people.

Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.
