Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: Surely they are disquieted in vain: He heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

Trust not in oppression, And become not vain in robbery: If riches increase, set not your heart thereon.

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

For thus saith the LORD, Ye were sold for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.

but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

And I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgements, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of the LORD, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after the which their fathers did walk:

one young bullock, one ram, one he-lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering;

For what should a man give in exchange for his life?

because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.

and again, The Lord knoweth the reasonings of the wise, that they are vain.

for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.

Ye were bought with a price; become not bondservants of men.

who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father:

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,

who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.

nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.

that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, might be found unto praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ:

For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:

And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin.
