Genesis 50:15

Revised Standard Version

When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “It may be that Joseph will hate us and pay us back for all the evil which we did to him.”

They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him.

Then Midianite traders passed by; and they drew Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver; and they took Joseph to Egypt.

And he put them all together in prison for three days.

After he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt with his brothers and all who had gone up with him to bury his father.

So they sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father gave this command before he died,

There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous.

There they are, in great terror, in terror such as has not been! For God will scatter the bones of the ungodly; they will be put to shame, for God has rejected them.

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

And as for those of you that are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a driven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues.

They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them
