Bid the older women likewise to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to drink; they are to teach what is good,

They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips,

that you may receive her in the Lord as befits the saints, and help her in whatever she may require from you, for she has been a helper of many and of myself as well.

But fornication and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is fitting among saints.

The women likewise must be serious, no slanderers, but temperate, faithful in all things.

Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for gain;

No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.

For a bishop, as God's steward, must be blameless; he must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain,

and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need some one to teach you again the first principles of God's word. You need milk, not solid food;

But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and beguiling my servants to practice immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
