Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.

Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear.

If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all.

Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to edify him.

Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

Finally, brethren, farewell. Mend your ways, heed my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its saltness, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

let him turn away from evil and do right; let him seek peace and pursue it.

What then, brethren? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

just as I try to please all men in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!

So shun youthful passions and aim at righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart.

nor to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies which promote speculations rather than the divine training that is in faith;

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves before you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.

But if the unbelieving partner desires to separate, let it be so; in such a case the brother or sister is not bound. For God has called us to peace.

Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that “all of us possess knowledge.” “Knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.

“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.

On the other hand, he who prophesies speaks to men for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues, unless some one interprets, so that the church may be edified.

to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
