But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task,
Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God, thy judgments are like the great deep; man and beast thou savest, O Lord.
Surely man goes about as a shadow! Surely for naught are they in turmoil; man heaps up, and knows not who will gather!
Thy way was through the sea, thy path through the great waters; yet thy footprints were unseen.
Clouds and thick darkness are round about him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
And I applied my mind to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind.
then I saw all the work of God, that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun. However much man may toil in seeking, he will not find it out; even though a wise man claims to know, he cannot find it out.
O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
