For the Lord will vindicate his people, and have compassion on his servants.

And God sent the angel to Jerusalem to destroy it; but when he was about to destroy it, the Lord saw, and he repented of the evil; and he said to the destroying angel, “It is enough; now stay your hand.” And the angel of the Lord was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.

Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on thy servants!

before the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his truth.

The Lord repented concerning this; “It shall not be,” said the Lord.

For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none remaining, bond or free.

So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord; and he became indignant over the misery of Israel.
