Be surety for thy servant for good; let not the godless oppress me.
I will be surety for him; of my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame for ever;
“Lay down a pledge for me with thyself; who is there that will give surety for me?
Thou dost rebuke the insolent, accursed ones, who wander from thy commandments;
Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
Like a swallow or a crane I clamor, I moan like a dove. My eyes are weary with looking upward. O Lord, I am oppressed; be thou my security!
This makes Jesus the surety of a better covenant.
