It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for a slave to rule over princes.

A poor man who oppresses the poor is a beating rain that leaves no food.

Under three things the earth trembles; under four it cannot bear up:

an unloved woman when she gets a husband, and a maid when she succeeds her mistress.

I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking on foot like slaves.

And there was a man in Maon, whose business was in Carmel. The man was very rich; he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. He was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
