Proverbs 15:1

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, “We have ten shares in the king, and in David also we have more than you. Why then did you despise us? Were we not the first to speak of bringing back our king?” But the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

And they said to him, “If you will be a servant to this people today and serve them, and speak good words to them when you answer them, then they will be your servants for ever.”

And they said to him, “If you will be kind to this people and please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants for ever.”

Will he make many supplications to you? Will he speak to you soft words?

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.

A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention.

With patience a ruler may be persuaded, and a soft tongue will break a bone.

A greedy man stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will be enriched.

A man of wrath stirs up strife, and a man given to anger causes much transgression.

Scoffers set a city aflame, but wise men turn away wrath.

And when he had said this, he dismissed the assembly.
