Then went out to him Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan,
And there went out to him all the country of Judea, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there; and people came and were baptized.
“The law and the prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and every one enters it violently.
He said therefore to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying,
and he went into all the region about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
