An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed.

Then the Lord said, “My spirit shall not abide in man for ever, for he is flesh, but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.”

But you, draw near hither, sons of the sorceress, offspring of the adulterer and the harlot.

Ephraim is joined to idols, let him alone.

Even if they bring up children, I will bereave them till none is left. Woe to them when I depart from them!

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

And the Lord appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah; and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”

When the disciples reached the other side, they had forgotten to bring any bread.

And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.”

For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood be upon your heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

And he testified with many other words and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”
