And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.”

For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

And he said, “Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country.

And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”

For even your brothers and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you; they are in full cry after you; believe them not, though they speak fair words to you.”

Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, and say, “Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you will die by our hand” —

He went away from there and came to his own country; and his disciples followed him.
