Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.

No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel, can avail against the Lord.

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be a tumult among the people.”

And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and sought a way to destroy him; for they feared him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.

But shall we say, ‘From men’?”—they were afraid of the people, for all held that John was a real prophet.

It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth, and kill him;

And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head.

But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us; for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

Now the feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover.

The Pharisees then said to one another, “You see that you can do nothing; look, the world has gone after him.”

When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This is really the prophet.”
