Thou art good and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.

For thou, O Lord, art good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on thee.

And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.”

And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

You know the commandments: ‘Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’ ”

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.

All have turned aside, together they have gone wrong; no one does good, not even one.”

Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

He who does not love does not know God; for God is love.

“There is none holy like the Lord, there is none besides thee; there is no rock like our God.
